What is the best credit reporting agency?

I have done a little research and have found that some of the popular ones aren’t that accurate. Does anyone know. Also is it safe to send your S.S.# on these sites? This sort of worries me. What would make it safe if not? Thanks
yngblk: will it cause my credit rating to go down if I get a 3 in 1 report? I have always heard it will. I have never checked my credit. It has always been excellent. For some reason I tried to get a credit card this morning and they denied me. I want to know why.

credit-report-free.totalh.com – try this site. I monitor my credit score here during last 3 years. And also cleaned off some bad items from my credit report. You can apply for free initial plan and get your scores and reports for free.

They’re as good as the info they have to share.

    There is no "best."

There is no best credit reporting agency. Not every creditor reports to all three of them, and they don’t all update at the same times. So, you may have a different credit score in each CRA. To have an accurate credit profile you need to pull your report from all three credit bureaus. Its safe to give your SS# on the actual credit bureau sites (Transunion.com, Experian.com, and Equifax.com) because the sites are secured. Third part sites like freecreditreport.com also offer some type of security, but its often better and cheaper to pull a 3-in-1 report from the credit bureaus themselves.

What do you mean that some of the popular ones aren’t that accurate? If you’re finding that the report you’re pulling doesn’t have up to date credit data on you then its possible that one or more of your creditors are not reporting to that particular CRA.

The site that offers the best composite is the Fair Isaacs Company website. From there you can pull all three credit bureau reports and also get your FICO scores—and the FICO scores are the numbers you really want to know because thats the score that most lenders use when you apply for credit. You can get this at myfico.com, and the cost is about $45. The FICO 3-in-1 report is the ultimate report.
